Education Grants

The Education Grants Committee offers monetary assistance to staff members of Tompkins County public libraries and Tompkins County K-12 school librarians to attend professional meetings, workshops, training sessions, and conferences.

The Committee also supports students seeking an advanced degree in library service, primarily those who are interested in public or school librarianship.  Students must be enrolled in an accredited Library Science graduate program.  These grants may be given for more than one year if the library school student has completed all previous courses successfully.

The Committee also provides awards for high school and middle school students under the title of “The Friends of the Tompkins County Public Library Award”.  These awards are given in late spring to students recommended by their school librarians as being exceptionally interested and providing helpful service to their school library.

Please note that funding is limited and awards are not guaranteed.
